Bus Rider's Safety Rules & Discipline
- Riding the bus is a privilege, and students must follow the school district's code of conduct.
- Students must obey the bus driver's instructions and follow safety regulations.
- Violations may result in the loss of bus riding privileges, including field trips and activities.
- Parents are responsible for transportation if a student is excluded from bus services.
- Bus drivers will not call the bus shop to call home for permission to ride. Students are only allowed to ride their assigned bus.
Waiting for the Bus:
- Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled arrival.
- Wait in a safe place, away from traffic and the bus stop area.
- Form an orderly line and avoid "horseplay."
- Cross the road only after the bus has come to a complete stop and the driver signals it is safe.
- Respect private property and the instructions of parents at the bus stops.
Safety Rules while on the Bus:
- Go to your assigned seat and remain seated facing forward.
- Silence all electronic devices or use headphones.
- Keep all body parts and objects inside the bus.
- Keep the bus clean and do not throw trash or objects.
- No eating or drinking (except water) on the bus.
- Dangerous items, animals, and glass containers are not allowed.
- Use a quiet voice to avoid distracting the driver.
- Maintain silence at railroad tracks.
- No smoking, vaping, or open flames.
- Skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, and roller skates are not permitted.
- Follow the directives of the bus driver and attendant.
Leaving the Bus:
- Students must board and leave the bus only at their assigned stop unless permission is obtained.
- Cross the street in front of the bus (at least 12 feet) when the driver signals it is safe.
- Maintain a safe distance from the side of the bus.
