Welcome to Emmett School DistrictFood Service Department
Free breakfast and lunch meals will be served to all students and children, aged 1-18, in Gem County through June 2021
Thanks to the USDA, the Emmett School District is extending the free Summer Food Service Program in the state of Idaho to all children, 1-18 years old, in Gem County.
That means the Emmett School District will serve breakfast and lunch meals to all traditionally enrolled students at no cost until June 2021. The only exception to this rule is when a student takes a milk only. Milk is not considered a reimburseable meal, so the student's meal account will be charged $0.50.
It also means students in Emmett Remote Academy, and any other Gem County area child, 1-18, also qualify for meals. Those meals can be picked up weekdays, between 12:45 and 1:30 pm at the Emmett Middle School and Shadow Butte Elementary School from 12:45-1:30 daily.
Parents are asked to come to the front door to pick up meals. Curbside will not be available and entry to the school buildings will not be allowed.
Meals will not be provided on non school days, including Thanksgiving week and winter break.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the Emmett School District to help meet the nutritional needs of Gem County families,” said Isa DeArmas, Assistant Superintendent of Federal Programs.
“Our Food Service team, led by Tyree White, has done a wonderful job since March, preparing and distributing meals in this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic era. These staff members will continue to do so for as long as funds are available through December 18, when the Emmett School District begins its winter break,” DeArmas said.
Despite the free meals program, White reminds families to complete the free/reduced meal applications now, so school-aged children who qualify, can immediately transition to that program when students are once again charged for meals. Families can access those forms when they log into Infinite Campus.
For those students who pay, meal accounts will be credited back to September 1, White said.
The Emmett Independent School District has implemented an Online Free/Reduced Meals Application in the Parent Portal for the 2020-2021 school year.
