About the Maintenance Department

  • Overview of the Maintenance Department

The Maintenance Department is responsible for the working quality of building systems in buildings and on the grounds, such as heating/cooling, electrical, plumbing, irrigation and repair skills, making sure the physical plant is operational at all times for the education of the students of the Emmett School District. Maintenance employees often possess a variety of trade skills. Department employees make sure the buildings operate in an efficient manner and that all properties are safe.

The Maintenance Director also oversees projects when the district outsources projects to the private sector.

Custodians: The Emmett School District has full-time Custodians at Emmett High School, Emmett Middle School, Black Canyon/Butte View complex, Carberry and Shadow Butte elementary schools.

These employees work a full-time position Monday through Friday during the day, cleaning, assisting with set-up for events, taking care of daily buildings/grounds duties, including seasonal maintenance, and work with our Maintenance Department.  Part-time district employees are employed for Sweet and Ola elementary schools.

Night Janitors: The District contracts with ABM, a private facilities service provider, for swing shift janitorial services, cleaning the district’s buildings after students and staff go home. The District shifted to ABM, like many other Treasure Valley school districts, because it’s been difficult to staff and train those night positions.
