School Board Trustee Vacancy
Emmett Independent School District is seeking individuals to fill two trustee vacancies on the school board. These positions have been opened due to the resignation of Lynsie Vickery and Travis Whittemore. The new board members terms will last until January 1, 2020. If the individuals wish to continue on the school board they would need to run for election in November 2019.
Emmett Independent School District is a specially chartered school district that was established before Idaho became a state. Under the provisions of the District’s charter there are no trustee zones. All six (6) board members are elected in a county wide election and may live anywhere within the Emmett School District. Individuals need to be eighteen (18) years old, a United States citizen, and a resident of the District for at least 30 days. Idaho Code 33-507 (3) states, “No spouse of any trustee may be employed by a school district with a fall student enrollment population of greater than one thousand two hundred (1,200) in the prior school year.”
The district is offering an informational session for individuals interested in being a board member on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the District Office at 400 South Pine Street, Emmett Idaho. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit a letter of interest, resume’, and proof of Gem County residency to the Superintendent’s Office by 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018.
