Facilities Committee – Proposed Improvements for Bond

Middle School – Highest priority:

  • Building Infrastructure Upgrade:
    • New electrical power for building and wiring for rooms
    • Heating and air conditioning
    • Reinstall windows to improve lighting and energy efficiency
    • Replace roof in needed areas
    • Fire Suppression – required by remodel
  • Remodel building to improve teaching and learning; safety; and efficiency:
    • Remodel classrooms, including science rooms.
    • Redesign and Remodel Classrooms in Technology / Special Education Building
    • Flexible furniture for learning spaces
    • Entrance improvement to increase security – New office along hall at entrance
    • Replace lockers
    • Remodel bathrooms and bring up to ADA compliant
    • Remodel and improvements to auditorium / enlarge stage
    • Remodel and improvements to kitchen, serving, eating, and music areas
  • Recreation / Outdoor Facilities:
    • New bleachers
    • Remodel outdoor bathrooms
    • Track improvements
    • Pave gravel around building

High School:

  • Remodel building to improve teaching and learning; safety; and efficiency:
    • Science rooms upgrade 3 rooms – Biology / Chemistry
    • Music room improvements
    • Flexible furniture for learning spaces
    • Locker rooms and coaches offices remodel
    • 6 Upgrade Bathrooms in Main Dome
    • 6 Upgrade Bathrooms in Small Domes
    • Entrance improvements to increase security
    • Create new drop-off in front of school to improve safety
    • Upgrade lighting for skylight in center of main dome
  • Recreation / Outdoor Facilities:
    • Pave parking lot and walkways to football stands
    • Replace bleachers at football field
    • Remodel bathrooms football field
    • Resurface track
    • Repair bleachers in gym

 

 

 

Career Technical Education:

  • Build CTE building approximately 10,000 Sq. Ft. for Agricultural Science and Pre-Engineering

Sweet Montour Elementary School:

  • New composite flooring in gym
  • Replace lower section of roof
  • Repurpose locker rooms for small group learning spaces

Shadow Butte and Kenneth Carberry Elementary

  • New flooring in halls – Polished concrete

 

 

Financial Facts:

This school bond will pay for the upgrades/renovations, construction labor, materials, permits, fees, equipment, other necessary project costs.  The total amount of this levy is $20.4 million and it will amortize over 20 years.

Passage of this Bond will NOT increase the present total levy rate. The bonds for Kenneth Carberry and Shadow Butte Elementary Schools will be paid off this year.  The rate for those bonds is $1.13 per $1,000 of market value.  This bond will be for the same amount. Total bond and levy rates for Emmett School District are $2.60 per $1,000 of market value.
