EHS Domes Information & Planning

After noticing some cracking and concerns during routine maintenance, the Emmett School District Board of Trustees hired an independent engineering firm to complete a full structural and systems assessment of the Emmett High School domes. This assessment was presented during a community meeting on Monday, August 18, 2026. A significant amount of information was shared, community members had the opportunity to ask questions, and much of the discussion focused on an important question: Where do we go from here?

The assessment, conducted by independent engineers, did not identify any current life-safety concerns requiring immediate action. However, it did identify numerous issues throughout the structures that will need to be addressed to prevent future safety concerns, further deterioration, and increased maintenance costs.

The assessment was comprehensive and included an evaluation of the various systems and components within the domes. Addressing the identified needs on the scale required would be costly. Making the updates in such a unique structure would be challenging, with results difficult to guarantee. Moving forward, our school community will need to consider what should be done, what options are available, and how the necessary work could be funded. The complete analysis conducted by the independent engineers is available at the link below:

 At the September 10 Regular Shool board meeting, the Emmett School District Board of Trustees voted to create a community outreach group to gather input, ideas, & discuss potential solutions. Please watch for upcoming community discussions.

The school board is seeking large-scale community involvement. What do you think should be done? How would you like to be involved? Would you like to be a part of the outreach committe? Would you like to be informed of the process as it moves forward?
